WHERE LOVE GROWS

Do you know what love is?

Where Love Grows explores a variety of intimate, loving connections that transcend the restrictions of romantic or sexual relationships. I have always relied on the platonic love and affection of friends and peers to fill my need for intimate connection. I am a firm believer that the intimacy between non-romantic individuals is just as important and powerful as the intimacy and love shared between partners or lovers.

I find myself returning time and time again to bell hooks All About Love and sinking deeper into my desire to “live in a culture where love can flourish.”

hooks describes love as an action that requires:

honest and open care, affection, accountability, respect, trust, commitment, and responsibility.

hooks’ definition of love leaves me longing for the future that I daydream about.

A future where love informs our politics, our culture, our communities, our families, our decisions, and our relationships.

A society where we believe in the power and promise of love.

A place where I would be able to live and love freely.
